Do schools need to test and tag electrical equipment?
Yes. A school is a workplace under WHS law, covering staff, contractors and — in effect — the students in its care. Classrooms, staff rooms, science labs, technology and manual arts workshops, canteens and admin offices all have electrical equipment that falls under the same duty of care as any commercial site.
What's different about testing a school compared to an office?
Volume and variety. A school might have hundreds of items across dozens of rooms — laptops and AV gear in classrooms, commercial kitchen equipment in the canteen, power tools in the workshop, lab equipment in science rooms — each with its own environment and interval. A proper asset register is what keeps that manageable.
Can you work during school holidays or pupil-free days?

Do you test science lab and workshop equipment too?
Yes — technology, manual arts and science lab equipment is tested the same way as any other portable gear, generally on the more frequent intervals given the heavier use and higher-risk environment. Fixed/hardwired lab benches and machinery are outside test and tag scope but still need to be safe and maintained.
